How To Set Up HP Wireless Printer
In this guide, we will take you through the steps of how to set up your HP Wireless Printer. Getting your wireless printer connected and set up properly should be relatively easy. By setting your wireless printer up, you will be able to take advantage of printing from any device that is on the same network.
Before you continue, you will want to make sure that your printer has wireless functionality by verifying the technical specifications of your exact printer model.
1. Ensure That The Network Is Compatible With Your Printer
First, you want to ensure that your WiFi network is properly set up, that you have a wireless compatible HP printer, and that your computer is connected to the appropriate compatible wireless network.
2. Use HP Auto Wireless Connect
HP Auto Wireless Connect is HP’s proprietary feature that helps you connect your printer wirelessly to your WiFi. It makes it so you don’t need to add any additional hardware like Ethernet cords or have to enter in your network settings manually.
A lot of the newer printers feature this technology which makes installing and setting up your wireless printer a breeze. To use this technology, you will want to install the software that came with the printer and follow the instructions on-screen.
Next, you will want to connect to the network during the setup process. It will ask if you want to send your wireless settings to the printer which is the recommended setting. HP’s software will then automatically connect to the network.
3. Connect Your Printer Manually.
Another option would be to enter the settings manually on your printer. You will want to use the Wireless Setup Wizard to get it set up properly. You will not be able to do this on printers that don’t have touchscreen functionality. For printers with touchscreen, simply navigate to the printer’s control panel and then navigate to the Wireless Setup Wizard.
From there, you will want to head to “Network” and enter your network details. You will see your preferred network on the list. If you don’t see it, you will need to enter the details manually in the blank text box at the bottom of the screen.
4. Setup Your Printer Via USB
Another option would be to set up your printer using a USB cable. This is going to be ideal for the older printers that don’t have Auto Wireless Connect technology or a touchscreen.
You will want to have your printer connected to your computer via the USB cable during the initial setup process.
During the setup process, it is going to ask you whether or not you want to set up your printer’s wireless connection during it. Sometimes, you might find that the software enters the details for you. If not, you will need to do it yourself.
