Screenshot Method – 1: Dell Keyboard Shortcuts

Depending on the model of the laptop, the label for Print Screen keys may vary. Generally, Dell laptops mark the Print Screen key with the word ‘Prt Sc’. This is also known as F10, and you will find it in the top row of your keyboard. Some Dell computer models will have this key next to the ‘Delete’ key, sometimes on the right-hand side.

The Print Screen key, along with certain keys on the keyboard, allows you to capture the screen in different proportions. Using this method will allow you to use Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 flawlessly. The following are the steps you need to take:

Press the Windows key and the Prt Sc key simultaneously if you’d like to capture the entire screen. A moment later you will see a flicker on your screen, meaning it has successfully taken a  screenshot.

The easiest way to grab a snapshot of a single-window is to click on the window you want to capture and press Alt + Prt Sc simultaneously.

Finally, if you want to take a screenshot of all the open windows, you can simply press Prt Sc.

The one issue with these methods is that there will be a second step to save your screenshot as a file. Once you take a screenshot with your Dell laptop, the image is initially copied to your clipboard. The easiest way to save it is to paste it into a graphics editing program (such as Microsoft Paint) and save the file from the program menu.

Screenshot Method – 2: Taking a Screenshot using the Snipping Tool on Dell Computers

For those who prefer a different approach, you could use the Snipping Tool instead of using the keyboard shortcuts mentioned above. This is a Windows feature that allows you to take screenshots of your screen in different shapes according to your needs. You can access the Snipping Tool from the Start Menu by clicking on the search box and typing in the search term: Snipping Tool. Upon opening the application, you will be presented with a variety of screenshotting options at your disposal.

Press ‘Ctrl + N’ to create a new document. Choose the capture option that is best suited for the screenshot you wish to take. The default option is rectangular snipping. In addition, there are three other forms:

Free Form Snip: This feature enables you to capture your screen in any shape you want.

The Window Snip: The Window Snip allows you to capture your active windows with one single click.

Full-Screen Snip: Using the Full-screen Snip, you capture the entire screen at once. The advantage of this feature is that it will come in handy if you are using multiple monitors at the same time.

Then, after you have taken your snapshot, you will have to click the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S to save it in the location you desire.
