The DL 160M data cartridge delivers 14GB of compressed storage capacity (7 uncompressed). It is intended for use in 8mm drives with extended length capacity using a special media recognition system. This system utilizes a unique stripe pattern on the tape leader which is recognized by XL drives as a computer grade tape. This identification is similar to the DDS media recognition system used on 4mm DDS products.
