The IBM TotalStorage FASt EXP700 is an expansion unit. The 14 bay, rack mountable fibre channel disk drive enclosure is designed to be used with FASt700 storage server. It provides an end to end 2Gbps fibre channel high scalable and high performance storage solution. It also provides incremental support for more than 1TB of disk storage per unit and supports for new, slim profile, dual loop, hot-swappable disk drive modules.

About the IBM 24P8066

Provides four 2Gb Fibre Channel host ports with dual controller models designed to economically support multipath failover for directly attached UNIX and Intel processorbased clustered servers.

Supports up to 112 hard drives and scales up to 16.4TB with high performance 2Gb fibre channel disks with the FAStT600 Turbo2, or 28TB with Serial ATA disks with FAStT600 and FAStT600 with turbo option. Supports up to 14 hard drives and scales to 2TB with FAStT600 single controller.

Includes FAStT Storage Manager to help centrally manage all FAStT storage subsystems.

Designed to help facilitate storage consolidation in storage area network (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) and direct-attach environments.

Can help improve service response time with automated alerts from the optional FAStT Service Alert feature.

The IBM FlashCopy feature is designed to take instant point-intime copies of logical volumes, which may be used for file restoration, backups, application testing or data mining.

Dynamic Volume Expansion is designed to allow administrators to resize logical volumes without disrupting users. This feature can work well for applications with rapidly growing data requirements, such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange.
